Explain...

Good Days Explained:  This visualization attempts to portray a duality that I personally felt existed within the song. There are ups and downs that can be felt and heard in SZA's voice. Specifically, how she sings the song; she sings her lyrics in such a beautiful way but there is a sadness that is there. When I envisioned these playing out, the context of a relationship is what stood out to me the most as well as nature. With this in mind I did my best to portray positives and negatives, such as people smiling, being happy, and nature as well as sadness, frustration, and anger.

In terms of colour, there were a few distinct colours that really stood out from the beginning. These being green, yellow, blue, and red. The green immediately stood out for the instrumental parts as they are very peaceful and relaxing which made me think of a garden and forest right away.

Yellow and other warm colours stood out to me and matched with what I felt like the positive parts of the song looked like, so I used those as well throughout the visualization.

The red really matched as I felt like there was a form of frustration or anger being expressed in the song. For this reason I felt like these emotions could be represented through the colour red as it can often be associated with these emotions.

Finally, blue and other cool toned colours like purple that were used matched with the negative, low energy, and sad emotions that SZA was able to portray through her song.

Void Explained:  In this song I really felt like the portrayal of a struggle with addiction was very present, where the artist is almost reflecting on his choices and remembering the good and bad things that came as a result of them. I tried to show this the most through the video choices I made as some scenes show people who are down, struggling, and anxious. These parts are meant to show the hard parts of his addiction while the scenes where people are happy, having fun, and are more upbeat are meant to show the feeling the artist has when he was enjoying his addiction.

In terms of the colours, the song itself has a more relaxed and dark sound to it, so I felt that colours such as blue, purple, green, and red fit with it.  The blue was primarily used to illustrate sadness and emptiness that I felt the artist was trying to portray through the song and his voice.

The purple was used more so in the beginning and end of the visualization as the song and its title "Void" reminded me of space and a blackhole. With this in mind, the colour purple was very fitting in my perspective, and I felt that using this colour in the beginning and end was a good way to tie the visualization together.

Finally, the red and green colours in the visualization were used to show the artists frustration with himself as well as his desires to change or get over his addictions.
